But one example is the antiquated filing cabinet- relegated to dusty warehouses of obscure state bureaus, or consuming precious space at landfills, due to the advent of computers and resultant lower demand for paper records.
Increased awareness of one's effect on the environment necessitates a new approach. Traditional cradle-to-grave product lifecycles are giving way to a creatively inspired 'cradle-to-cradle' paradigm, repurposing obsolete, neglected office equipment, for attractive, versatile, and noble new roles.
Modern planter options are typically limited to flimsy, over-styled, and very expensive models that create visual dissonance with the surrounding environs. Furthermore, due to the lack of options, many end up opting for the traditionally-styled terra-cotta planters.
SOLUTION: ARKIVOS - aesthetically repurposed archives, as sidewalk planters and herb gardens for your terrace, sidewalk cafe, or back yard. In the spirit of the modern Bauhaus movement, the monolithic planters boast clean, straight lines, very solid construction, and an industrial appearance.
ARKIVOS is available in a wide array of colors, and are powdercoated with a thick, durable enamel. ARKIVOS is also available in natural rust, and in clear enamel, as pictured to the right. As the clear-enameled ARKIVOS becomes exposed to the elements over time, the surface may take on a patina of oxidation. This is to be expected and encouraged, as it brings depth and character to the appearance, making each planter unique.
ARKIVOS even offers custom artist finishes from up-and-coming and acclaimed local artists, such as Nathan Nordstrom (AKA SLOKE), and Federico Archuleta (AKA FE DE RICO).
